Destiny 2 Rose: God Rolls & How to get it (2024)

When Bungie released the revamped Competitive Playlist, they knew they needed a top-tier weapon to sweeten the deal for those on the fence. Enter Rose. While some see it as yet another 140 RPM hand cannon, this is one of, if not the best, hand cannon for PvP.

How to get Rose

Rose is only available at Lord Shaxx through the Competitive Ranks system and Engram focusing. However, unlike normal focusing, you do not need to have obtained the weapon already in order to focus it.

You do need to place in one of the seven Competitive Divisions, which we cover in detail here. Simply put, the higher you place, the more focuses you get, up to a maximum of seven each week. Just be ready to stock up on engrams and Glimmer, as each focus costs three engrams and 25,000 Glimmer.

You can find all of our Destiny 2 God Rollshere.

How good is Rose

Rose is an odd one. While most 140 RPM hand cannons are Adaptive Frames, Rose is a Lightweight—a bygone frame from pre-Beyond Light. This means that stacking it against other 140s is slightly difficult, as frames can immensely affect a gun’s base stats. This is why it has a significantly higher handling stat than any other 140, at the cost of some range and a significant amount of stability.

That said, Rose is an excellent hand cannon for those who like to leverage their mobility rather than accuracy in a gunfight. The lack of range and stability is more than compensated for by the high handling, which allows quicker pushes and easier repositioning to secure those kills.

In PvE, Rose is easily beaten by any other hand cannon as it lacks a solid reload + damage perk combo, though a case can be made for a Rapid-Hit + Vorpal Weapon / Explosive Payload roll. You won’t be bringing this into the end-game anytime soon, that is for sure.

Best alternatives:

Rose God Rolls and Perk Pool

The Rose hand cannon can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Elemental Capacitor, Rapid Hit, Moving Target, Slideshot, Perpetual Motion, Quickdraw
  • Perk 2: Explosive Payload, Vorpal Weapon, Eye of the Storm, Rangefinder, Snapshot Sights, Opening Shot

Rose God Rolls, Destiny 2

Rose PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Smallbore
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell or Tactical Mag
  • Perk 1: Rapid-Hit
  • Perk 2: Explosive Payload or Vorpal Weapon
  • Masterwork: Stability

Unfortunately, Competitive weapons seem to be designed solely with PvP in mind, and Rose is no different. While it does have Rapid-Hit and Vorpal, a combo that would be excellent on almost any other weapon type, the fact is that hand cannons still fall behind in PvE, especially 140s. They cannot leverage the range of a 120, nor the quick RPM and stability of 180s. If you find yourself needing a hand cannon for PvE, far better options exist. But if you really want to bring Rose in, here’s what I recommend:

Rose PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Smallbore or Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds or Flared Magwell
  • Perk 1: Perpetual Motion or Moving Target
  • Perk 2: Explosive Payload or Eye of the Storm
  • Masterwork: Range or Stability

Rose’s base stats are very good, but as previously mentioned, it lacks range and stability. Hence, our Barrel and Magazine will focus on bumping those up as high as possible. For those who want a balanced approach, Smallbore boosts both these stats by 7. If you’re after more range, Hammer-Forged Rifling is the best option, boosting it by 10. As for the magazine, Accurized Rounds is what most will want, but Flared Magwell is also viable for its stability boost.

For our Column 3 perks, it’s really hard not to recommend any of them, as they all fit different playstyles. I’d personally go with Perpetual Motion, as it leans heavily into the mobility of the weapon and boosts stability by 20 at max stacks. Or you could go with Elemental Capacitor for a flat buff based on your subclass. It’s really all up to you! The same goes for Column 4, though due to recent changes, the only one I do not recommend is Rangefinder, as the range buff it used to give no longer applies.
